Passion, Performance, and Precision – Our Story

Bergen Performance Marine: Turning a Passion for Boating into a Year-Round Lifestyle

Bergen Performance Marine LLC was founded in 2025 by Matt, our President, who sought to elevate his love and passion for boating. After experiencing the winter blues away from the water, Matt was inspired to create a way to stay connected to the boating world year-round. This drive led to the establishment of Bergen Performance Marine LLC, a company dedicated to providing exceptional boating experiences and services, allowing boating enthusiasts to enjoy their passion 24/7. Matt’s vision is to share his enthusiasm for the water and high-performance boating with others, making it a central part of their lives.

Matt's Journey to Bergen Performance Marine

Matt's love for boating began at a very young age when he first toured Disney World by boat and took the helm of the iconic "Mouse." From that moment, he developed an unwavering passion for everything nautical. His family vacation home in Palm Beach Shores became a place of inspiration, where he would spend hours at the Sail Fish Marina, marveling at the impressive Viking sportfishing yachts that lined the docks. It was there that Matt's obsession with boats truly began to take root.

The real turning point came when Matt's family got their first boat on the Hudson River. From that day forward, he was hooked. Whether swimming, tubing, or taking the helm with his dad, Matt was immersed in the boating lifestyle. Soon, everything in his room became boat-themed, and his conversations revolved around boating—whether at home, at school, or down the shore with his best friend Tim in Long Beach Island (LBI). Matt thrived on the water, enjoying sailing, fishing, swimming, and simply being on the beach, around water.

At 11, Matt experienced the ultimate adventure: a father-son trip to bring a 65' Benetti motor yacht from Ft. Lauderdale to New Jersey. Navigating the Intercoastal Waterway was an unforgettable experience, and he spent countless hours afterward helping his dad refurbish the yacht. As he grew, Matt's skills and knowledge expanded, earning him multiple certifications from BoatUS's online safety courses, which he proudly displayed on his bedroom walls. He also passed an Advanced Boating Skills & Seamanship course at the age of 13.

Matt's fascination with boats only deepened as he matured. He began honing his creativity and mechanical skills in his father's steel fabrication shop, learning to fabricate and weld. As soon as he could drive, he eventually began taking apart and rebuilding engines. This led to his obsession with how engines worked and a growing passion for high horsepower. His journey into the world of performance boating began to take shape.

Since turning 18, Matt has owned an impressive collection of boats, including an 18' Bay liner, a 27' Chris Craft, and the current family vessel, a stunning Formula 400SS. For Matt, this boat serves as a summer weekend house with his wife and daughter, who spend 6 months of the year cruising and enjoying the water.

Matt's most recent project involved transforming a 19' Scarab Jet. He completely refurbished the boat, equipping it with a custom-built 6.0L LS2 engine with twin turbos—something that many said would never work. But, of course, it did.

Now, Matt has his eyes set on a new challenge: his first official "go-fast", high performance boat —a 29' Scarab. Stay tuned to see the exciting transformation of this latest project, as Matt continues to push the limits of high-performance boating and share his passion with the world.

At Bergen Performance Marine LLC, Matt's dedication to high-performance boats, creative engineering, and a love for the water drives everything we do.
